"I am absolutely delighted that this year’s ball has been given the full support of the community and we are planning on this to be the most talked about event in the Torbay area in years!” said John Clarke, Chairman, Rainbow Ball Committee.  He added, “Torbay Pride Support, headed by Joseph Irvine, has done fantastic work over the last six years, raising £80,000 for local charities. The main beneficiary is Eddystone, who provide information, training and support for anyone affected by HIV/AIDS and this year’s ball will be raising funds for this worthwhile cause.  

Clarke finished by saying “I would also like to take this opportunity of thanking the Rainbow Ball Committee staff, supporters and friends who give  their time and energy to ensure the evening’s success.  The event has been a triumph over the past six years that we hope it will now become an annual fixture on the Torquay social calendar. With only a few weeks left before the event, plans are on schedule with hopes that it will be an even grander occasion, year after year."

Sean Scannell and Rogue Minogue were both superb acts. The only let down was Stuart Miles who it has to be said was dreadful, unfunny both in and out of drag. anon   |2008-12-01 12:03 i know the event was about much more than stuart miles, but he really was appalling and pityfull. i have seen many brilliant drag artists over the years that are genuinely tallented. i had taken someone that had never seen a drag artist live before and he was embarrassingly bad! He was so bad it risked ruining the evening i'm afraid. he really ought to go and find something that he has a tallent for, because he does not have a tallent for "entertaining". Reply 1   1
